Online Museums

Bringing museums into your classroom is an excellent way to engage your students in the subject they are studying. There are two basic types of online museums. One will take you on a virtual tour of what is seen and taught in the museum itself. The other type of online museum is specifically designed for viewing on the Internet and usually provides interactive activities and suggested uses for the classroom.

Primary Grade Example:
National Gallery of Art for Kids

Middle School Example:

Read*Write*Think http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons/lesson_view.asp?id=55 Drop Everything And Read "This independent reading is much more than a just-sit-there-and-read experience. It gives the teacher a structured time to touch base with each student over a period of time, assess progress, and target instruction. Even more important, it gives students time to read what they want to read, share what they've read, and receive the support they need for further reading explorations and reflections."
